A daily study
One queen in every rank, file and chamber.
Queenwise is a daily chess-logic study: place a queen in every rank, every file and every irregular chamber of the board, with no two queens sharing a diagonal. It takes a few quiet minutes, and there is a new one tomorrow.

Three rules, and a queen that means it.
- One queen per rank and per file. Every row and every column of the board holds exactly one.
- One queen per chamber. The board is divided into irregular connected territories. Each takes exactly one queen.
- No two queens on a diagonal. Not merely touching — at any distance, all the way to the edge of the board.
The third rule is the one that makes this chess rather than region filling. A queen you place in a corner can settle, or ruin, a chamber on the far side of the board. Chamber walls do not block her.
Solvable by reasoning. Never by guessing.
Every board that ships is checked before anyone sees it. It must have exactly one answer, and there must be a route to that answer using ordinary deduction from the rules alone. A board that can only be finished by assuming a square and backing out when it fails is rejected, not published.
This is the part that took the longest to build, and it is the promise worth making. When a Queenwise study has you stuck, there is something on the board left to see. There is never anything left to try.
One answer
Two independent solvers have to agree that exactly one arrangement satisfies the board.
A findable route
The generator records the reasoning that solves the board. If that route needs a guess, the board is thrown away.
Difficulty that is measured
Gentle, Considered and Demanding come from the length and depth of that route, not from a label somebody picked.
A complete study, free, every day.
One new study arrives daily and it is free — permanently, and not as a trial. Hints, the tutorial, every accessibility setting, your history, your streak and spoiler-free sharing are all part of the free game. Nothing is made worse to sell you a fix for it.
Boards grow across the week. It opens with a 7×7 you can finish over a coffee and closes on a 10×10 that will not be hurried.
An optional Study Library subscription adds the archive and further composed studies for people who want more than one a day. It takes nothing out of the daily game, and it never sells hints, streak repair or an advantage.
No ads. No tracking. No account.
- No advertising, ever. No ad networks, no ad identifiers, nothing sponsored.
- No analytics and no third-party code. Queenwise ships with no third-party SDKs at all — there is nothing in it to report on you.
- No account. Nothing to sign up for, no email address to hand over. Open it and play.
- Game Center, only if you want it. An optional daily leaderboard, achievements and friend challenges. Declining changes nothing about the game, and you are not asked twice.
- iCloud continuity, only if you want it. Start on iPhone, finish on Mac. Progress travels through your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read. Without iCloud you still get the whole game, locally.
- Sharing you start yourself. A result card carries the study number, whether you used a hint, and a five-beat rhythm of your solve. It cannot reconstruct the board, and opening a shared link tells us nothing about who opened it.
iPhone, iPad and Mac.
One native app on all three, built with SwiftUI and no third-party dependencies. Requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later.
Made to be read
The board takes the space it is given. Chambers stay legible without relying on colour to tell them apart.
Accessible from the start
VoiceOver with speakable coordinates and named conflicts, Dynamic Type, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion, Full Keyboard Access, Switch Control and Voice Control.
Works offline
Studies are delivered ahead of time and cached, so a tunnel or a plane costs you nothing.
Queenwise is not on the App Store yet.
It is in testing now. When it ships, the link will be here and the daily study will be free.
