Privacy Policy for Queenwise

The short version

Queenwise collects nothing. It has no advertising, no analytics, no third-party code of any kind, and no account to create. Your boards, your history and your settings live on your device. Two Apple features — Game Center and iCloud — are available if you turn them on, and both are optional.

No personal data collection — we do not collect, store or receive personal information about you.
No advertising — no ads, no ad networks, no advertising identifier.
No analytics or tracking — no analytics service, no behavioural profiling, no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
No third-party SDKs — the app contains no code from anyone but us and Apple's own operating system frameworks.
No account — no sign-up, no email address, no password, no profile.

What is stored on your device

Queenwise keeps the following on the device you are playing on:

the queens and possibility marks on a study you have not finished yet;
which studies you have completed, when, how long you were active, and whether you used a hint;
your streak and personal statistics, all computed on the device;
your settings, including whether the timer is shown, motion and haptic preferences, and your sharing defaults; and
the daily studies themselves, delivered ahead of time so the game works offline.

Deleting the app removes all of it. Settings also offers a way to reset an individual study or to erase your game data outright.

iCloud continuity, if you enable it

If you are signed in to iCloud and leave continuity on, your progress is stored in your own private iCloud database so a study you begin on iPhone can be finished on iPad or Mac. That data belongs to your Apple Account. We have no access to it, cannot browse it, and receive no report that it synced.

Continuity is a convenience, not a requirement. Turn it off, sign out of iCloud, or never sign in at all, and Queenwise is exactly as complete a game — everything simply stays on the one device. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

Game Center, if you enable it

Game Center is Apple's service, and it is entirely optional. It is never required to play, and declining it changes no rule, no board and no feature of the daily study. If you do turn it on, Queenwise can submit your daily completion time to a leaderboard, record achievements, and show which of your Game Center friends have finished today's study.

In that case your Game Center identity and scores are held by Apple under your Apple Account, not by us. We see only what Apple's leaderboard shows any player. Queenwise adds no chat, no profiles, no comments and no follower counts, and it never asks for your contacts.

Sharing a result

Sharing only ever happens when you start it. You see a preview first and choose what it includes; the exact time, the move count and a link are separate toggles. A result card carries the study number, whether the solve was unassisted, and a short rhythm derived from your pace. By design it cannot reconstruct the queens or the chambers, so it does not spoil the study for whoever receives it.

The system share sheet decides where it goes. Queenwise does not enumerate the apps you have installed, does not choose a destination for you, and receives nothing back. A shared link contains a study identifier and a format version and nothing else — opening one does not report the sender or the recipient to us.

Notifications

If you ask for a daily reminder, it is scheduled locally by your device at the time you pick. There is no push server and no notification service involved, and nothing reports back whether it fired or whether you opened it. You are never asked for notification permission on first launch.

Purchases

The daily study is free. If you subscribe to the optional Study Library, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. We receive Apple's normal aggregate sales reports; we do not receive your name, your email address or your payment details, and the app stores no payment information.

What Apple reports to us

Like every developer, we can see the aggregate, anonymous statistics Apple publishes in App Store Connect — things like how many devices downloaded the app in a country, and crash reports from people who chose to share diagnostics with developers. Apple collects this, not us; it does not identify you; and you control it in Settings under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

What we do not do

We do not show advertising or work with any ad network.
We do not use analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs from third parties.
We do not ask for your contacts, your photos, your location, your microphone or your camera.
We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier.
We do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not have any.
We do not require an account, and we operate no user database.

Children's privacy

Queenwise is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. There is no sign-up, no chat, no user-generated content and no advertising, so there is no path by which a child could disclose personal information to us. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, write to privacy@apparentlogic.com and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request. The data described above is under your control directly: reset it in Settings, delete the app, or manage the Game Center and iCloud data Apple holds through your Apple Account. Subscriptions are managed in the App Store.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The revision date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
