Open it like a book or stand it up like a laptop, and the board and keypad each get their own half. Close it mid-puzzle and carry on: same board, same brush, same clock.

A whole new look

Paper, ink, and one bold color for each difficulty. Every Daily gets its own slowly shifting artwork on Today, and your win card now numbers the order you finished the boxes, so every solve leaves a little picture behind.

Race your friends

Today shows how your Game Center friends did on the Daily, Daily Mini, and Daily X, the time to beat, and who still has to play. Hints now add 30 seconds instead of keeping you off the board, so everyone gets a time.

Challenge a friend before or after you play, or share any puzzle as a race on the exact same board.

Comfortable for everyone

Bigger text that holds its shape, stronger contrast when you turn on Increase Contrast, and VoiceOver that tells you when you've won.

A new Daily now unlocks for everyone at once, at 08:00 UTC, with fresh leaderboards to match.

Share your result

Send a Daily as a link with your result card. Friends can open it in the app, or play the same puzzle right in their browser and try to beat your time.

Who solved it?

See which friends finished today's Daily, challenge them from the win screen, and find out when someone passes you.

Better results and reminders

Results now show mistakes, Flawless solves, and where you rank. Reminders arrive when a new Daily is ready and before it closes, and never for one you've already solved.

New ways to play

Hardcore hides pencil notes, 3 Strikes ends after three wrong entries, and Zen tucks the timer away. Your Dailies always stay standard, so times stay fair.

Board styles (Sudoku Pro)

Play with shapes, fruit, or Wordoku letters in place of numbers. Wordoku hides a nine-letter word in every puzzle.

Step-by-step hints

A hint first flags any mistakes, then can clear them so your notes return, then points out a square you can solve — explaining each step on the board.

Across your devices

Start a puzzle on your iPhone and pick it up on your iPad, kept in sync over iCloud.

Hands-free

Open the day's puzzle with Siri or Shortcuts, or find it in Spotlight.

A clearer board

On iPad, the grid now leads the layout in both portrait and landscape. Pencil notes are easier to read, the winning screen and daily prompt have been refreshed, and VoiceOver narrates every move.
